The vision for
Alternatives started over 10 years ago. Dr.
Patricia Ryan established a medical practice
after she was Board Certified in Family
Practice in 1992. The concept of treating
the whole individual was rooted in the
Family Practice specialty. While her
training in traditional allopathic medicine
was excellent, she found that there were
many people who would “fall through the
cracks”. In other words, they did not have a
disease, but they didn’t feel well. It just
seemed that medications, surgery, or
physical therapy would not adequately
address their symptoms or concerns. She was
also frustrated by the short amount of
face-to-face time that was allowed with the
current system of medicine. The pace was not
healthy for Dr. Ryan nor her clients. In
searching for the answers for her own
journey toward health, Dr. Ryan began to
discover many different ways to approach the
human body.
There is not just one
cause of illness, nor just one theory
regarding health that works for everyone.
Human beings are quite complex and they are
more than just a physical body. They have
unique genetic make-ups, emotional
influences, environmental influences,
differences in nutritional intake, and
different responses to stressors. Dr. Ryan
has obtained training to address the patient
at all of these levels. She has also
recruited staff who have also studied
healing through many different lenses, and
have helped create Alternatives, A Center
For Conscious Health.
The name,
Alternatives, was chosen because we want
people to know that in addition to
allopathic medicine, there are other options
out there; more information that can help
you have the vibrant health that you
deserve. “A Center For Conscious Health” was
chosen because we are a center for healing,
education, information, support, and
empowerment. We want every client to become
more conscious about what their current
health status is, and the possibilities of
what it can become! So, if you are currently
experiencing symptoms such as fatigue,
menstrual cramps, depression, acne, or
illnesses such as fibromayalgia, irritable
bowel syndrome, arthritis, menopause, come
and visit us and see what you can do to feel
better.
We also can advise
you on how you can reduce your risk of
cancer. If you already have had cancer, let
us show you how you can aid your body in
healing from chemotherapy and radiation, and
reduce your risk of recurrence. There are
things that you can do! Come and learn what
steps you can take to help you reach your
goal of health no matter what disease
process you may have, or where you are at on
your journey to a healthy body and a healthy
life. |
